CDL Brexit Statement

CDL Brexit Position

The UK government has passed legislation that requires the UK to leave the European Union (EU) after 29th March. Presently the circumstances of international trade after that date are unclear.

CDL are closely monitoring the changing political, economic and trading outlook. We are also in frequent dialogue with our supplier partners to assess and support their ability to continue supply in the event that trading with EU countries becomes interrupted. As a responsible supplier we are making sensible preparations to continue our own operations as normally as possible in the event of the various likely outcomes. In order to do this we have already substantially increased our stock levels of fast moving and regularly sold items and continue to review and increment our stock levels.

We are seeing increased demand as customers place orders to meet anticipated requirements and would encourage any customers with firm requirements after April 1st to place orders well in advance of the March deadline and to discuss any scheduling of deliveries with their regular CDL contact. We would also respectfully ask customers who have specific concerns about the supply of any particular items after March 29th to get in touch with their CDL account manager, local branch or to our head office to discuss all of the available options.

The CDL/BPX Group employs a number of staff from EU countries other than the UK and we are supporting those colleagues throughout the Brexit process. We remain confident that they will retain their right to work in the UK but recognise that it is an especially worrying time for them and their families.

As the political situation develops we will issue further statements when appropriate via this page but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to make contact.

Kind regards
