18th September 2020
It is almost six months since the coronavirus pandemic began to impact the activities of UK industry and with it, the operations of CDL, our customers and our suppliers. In the intervening months, much has changed and we continue to adapt our business processes to the new ways of working.
We are pleased to say that CDL has remained operational throughout and that we moved quickly to put in place safety measures for our customers, suppliers and staff that allowed all parts of our business to continue working. Amongst the many measures adopted, deliveries and collections are now made in a contactless way, screens are in place in our trade counter for the safety of both customers and our staff, and visitors are required to pre-advise their risk status before being temperature checked on arrival.
Our demo room is open for visits (by appointment please) and remains very popular. Our live demo walls offer the chance to discuss, test and try solutions with on-hand technical support – socially distanced of course! We have seen increased demand for remote access systems, robotics, Electrical Automation and safety solutions. If you would like to talk about or try out any of these products, please get in touch.
All of our staff have now returned to our office and have been grateful to our group IT team who have kept us all connected seamlessly and with the necessary resources to be as effective from home as we were in the office. We continue to follow the guidance regarding imminent and suggested changes and feel confident that we will be able to continue to adapt accordingly for the safety of our staff, customers and suppliers as we continue through these current times.
The CDL sales and technical teams are once again making visits in response to customer requests for on-site support or discussion although it is necessary for us to risk assess each potential visit in advance for the benefit of our staff and other customers. We are pleased to attend site and will make every effort to do so, thank you for your understanding as we carry out the necessary checks and assurances. If you would like to arrange for an engineer to visit please call us or reply to this email.
Thanks to our suppliers for your continued support and particular thanks to our customers for your continued business. As our customers span so many different industries we are a fair barometer of the UK manufacturing industry and it is encouraging to see the progressive return towards “normal” business levels. We know that these challenging times lead to unusual demands upon many businesses and we stand ready to respond to requests for extraordinary service. If we can be flexible or adaptable to help your business be successful, please let us know. We welcome the challenge.

COVID-19, Update including Product Availability
We sincerely hope that you, your colleagues and your families are remaining safe and well in these difficult and unprecedented times. At CDL we continue to assess the recommended and best practice information being issued by the government and adopt that alongside our high-standards of safety. The guidance changes frequently and we offer an update on the position of CDL and our supplier partners.
CDL Remain Open
Amongst customers of CDL are hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, ventilator manufacturers, utilities and food and beverage manufacturers. It is our responsibility to remain open to provide the products and services necessary for the continued operation of these organisations. It is equally our responsibility to ensure the wellbeing of our staff, customers and suppliers by doing so in the safest possible way.
Changes to Service
We wrote last week of the measures taken so far including; homeworking for any staff able to do so, only a skeleton staff in each of our BPX group company locations, contactless collections and deliveries. So far, we are pleased to report that none of our staff has advised that they are suffering from the coronavirus. If this situation changes we have strategies prepared to be able to offer a continued service.
Our field and office sales teams now working from home are connected and switched on. We remain ready to assist our customers with technical, logistic and commercial responses in the normal way and of course with the usual CDL services.
Our manufacturer partners are doing an amazing job to keep their businesses operating, we have not experienced any significant supply chain interruptions to date. Despite the severe constraints affecting operations in Europe, it is testament to the robustness of their global manufacturing capability that their products continue to flow into our business.
If there is a change in the pattern of product availability, we will endeavour to contact any affected customers individually to discuss the impact and the alternatives.
We urge all of our customers to follow government guidelines and to remain safe. Please get in touch if you have specific requirements either of service or product over the next few weeks that will enable us to work with you in a better way.
With best wishes

24th March 2020
After last night’s announcement by the Prime Minister, we would like to reassure our customers that CDL remains open for business. Many of our customers work directly or indirectly in essential industries and we will remain open to ensure their continued supply.
We have already transitioned the majority of our office staff to work from home, leaving essential personnel. Our IT team have worked tirelessly to ensure that the home-workers can provide the same service as if they were in the office – just perhaps with a little more background noise!
Our group warehouses are open, our drivers and carriers are delivering. However, our trade counters are closed, other than to collections. Both collections and deliveries will now be made without physical contact for the safety of our staff and customers. Please contact us by phone if you wish to collect an order.
We are benefitting from our group HQ move in January. It has double the stock capacity of our previous home and we have been building stocks for some weeks in anticipation of any supply chain interruptions.
It’s heart-warming to see that the CDL fighting spirit lives on and to see the determination of so many of our team to keep working and to keep supporting those customers continuing to trade. These are unprecedented and very difficult times but at CDL we will stand side-by-side with our customers and suppliers to face the challenges ahead.

We offer an update from CDL in light of the fast-changing nature of the COVID-19 outbreak, which is causing considerable concern for everyone in our community.
Firstly, we want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to adapt to the new circumstances that we are all faced with and we thank our customers, suppliers and especially our colleagues, for their patience loyalty and their hard work in tackling the continuing challenges and uncertainty that the virus has so far brought. It is our primary duty and responsibility to take care of our colleagues and their families and to provide a safe place of work. Being at CDL has always been like being a part of a big family and at these times we recognise that looking out for each other is more important than ever.
In the meantime, the CDL Team continue to work tirelessly to fulfil all orders, enquiries and technical support requests and to ensure as limited an impact as possible to all of our valued customers. They do so as our working environment is changing rapidly.

- Stock is held locally within our group of companies, if you have any special requirements please contact us on our normal number, through www.cdluk.com or by contacting our branch here.
- Customers will be notified in advance of any currently unforeseen lead time issues.
- We will endeavour to meet the requirements for on-site support when we can assure the welfare of our staff.
- We are equipped to host group calls with clients.
- We are ready to accept video conference calls from customers or suppliers
- You can contact us by Email, Telephone, Skype and all of our CDL social media profiles.
- Our sales team will contact customers with diarised face-to-face meetings to change these to video or audio calls.
- Calls can be made on our normal numbers although the call could be forwarded to an individual member of staff, who may be working elsewhere.
We will continue to follow the Government’s guidance, working closely with all partners, to ensure that CDL takes the actions necessary to support our customers, suppliers and colleagues. In addition, we are working around the clock to find new ways that we can further support our customers during this period of unprecedented uncertainty. We want to help and find new ways – however big or small – to alleviate the pressures customers are likely to face, or may already be facing. We would be delighted to hear from you directly if there are suggestions that would help your business.
Once again, thank you for working with the CDL. We will be back in touch soon.
